I am a philosopher currently working as a Lecturer (tenured) in Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility in the Faculty of Business and Law at De Montfort University (in Leicester, UK) where I teach courses on digital transformation and innovation from a humanist perspective focused on the value of technology. Prior to this, I held Postdoctoral Research Fellowships at the University of Notre Dame (USA) and at Durham University (UK) and worked as a Lecturer in Ethics at the University of Bristol after graduating from the University of St Andrews with a PhD in Philosophy in 2021.
I have broad research interests in ethics, epistemology, aesthetics and philosophy of mind and language. My core research programme investigates how our imagination (and related abilities such as creativity, empathy, and moral vision) can be constrained or improved and the impact this has on belief, trust, knowledge and action (and consequently on individual and collective agency). I am particularly interested in technology's impact on the imagination and its consequences for individual and collective well-being.
A representative publication to get to know my work is ‘Imagination as an intellectual virtue’ which is published in Analysis (co-authored with Alan Wilson). You can read more about my research projects, talks and other co-authors on my CV here.
In my spare time, I like to draw cartoons, like the one on this page (2020) and enjoy exploring old and new technologies in practice.
